Ash Wednesday

Next Wed. is Ash Wednesday – a day of fast and abstinence.  There will be two Masses in the parish on that day – at 7pm in Crosskeys and at 8.30pm in Drumavaddy.  The blessed ashes will be distributed at both of those Masses.

Curate’s House

At a meeting of the combined committees of Drumavaddy Church Finance Committee, Denn Pastoral Council & Crosskeys Church Finance Committee on last Tue. 14 February 2012, it was decided to sell the curate’s house in Killatain to the diocese of Kilmore to be used as a home for retired priests.

Indoor Camogie In Drumavaddy Community Centre

Training is on Monday from 5.45 to 6.45pm and from 6.45 to 7.45pm.  Blitz will be held on Sat. next 25th Feb. in Drumavaddy. Times will be given at training.

First Communion Dresses etc

Wanted …used Communion dresses, suits & accessories.  Drop items off in Breifne College, Cavan on Fri.24th Feb. from 8.30am to 5pm. The transition year will sell them for you and you will get the proceeds.

Denn GFC

The Blotto numbers drawn this week were 4, 19, 22 & 25.   There was no Jackpot winner. The €25 winners were Eugene Lee, Seán & Carina Kiernan, Michael B. Hyland, Patricia Smith & Ronan Kiernan.  The next draw will be on Mon. 20th  Feb. in The Den The Jackpot is €1,750.

Enrolment for Confirmation

We welcome all the children who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation this year and their families.  Today we have the enrolling for Confirmation and also the taking of the pledge to abstain from alcohol and other drugs until they are 16 years of age.  We pray for all making Confirmation that the Lord will continue to bless them.

Holy Season of Lent

Begins on next Wed. It is a six weeks period of fasting, almsgiving and prayer in preparation for the celebration of the resurrection at Easter.  The Trócaire boxes for contributing to the poor and hungry of our world are available in both churches.  There will be Stations of the Cross in Crosskeys on next Fri. evening at 7.10pm.

History Talk

A history talk entitled Photographs and History of Cavan Town will be given by Fr Liam  in the Johnson Library Cavan on next Tue. evening  21st Feb. at 7pm.  All are welcome

Solemn Novena to our Lady of Perpetual Help

Will take place in Holy Trinity Abbey, Kilnacrott, starting Tue 28th Feb and closing on Tue. 24th April. It starts with Rosary at 7.30pm, Novena Prayers at 7.45pm and Mass and Benediction at 8pm.

Busy Bee Workshop For Children

Will be held in the Museum in Ballyjamesduff  on Sat.25th Feb – with morning and afternoon session. Great chance to learn about Irish bees. For details ring 8544070.

Red or Black

Denn GFC will host the TV game show Red or Black in the Farnham Hotel, Cavan on

16th March. It will be hosted by Northern Sound’s Seán McCaffrey and promises to be a great night’s entertainment. All proceeds will go to the development of new pitch, gym & changing facilities at St Matthew’s Park, Crosskeys. Tickets are now available by contacting 086-3859897.
