Pilgrimage to Knock

A special National Eucharistic gathering will take place in Knock on Saturday 25th June.  People from every parish all over Ireland will gather there on that day for a special national celebration in preparation for the International Eucharistic Congress which takes place in Dublin next year.  This pilgrimage replaces the annual diocesan pilgrimage to Knock.  All those wishing to travel by bus  to Knock on that day are asked to book with Michael Cahill.  His telephone number is 4336703

Scrap Metal Collection

The parish of Denn scrap metal collection which took place on Sat. 30th April was a great success and raised a total of €6,190.  Thanks to everyone who donated the metal and thanks to both Church Finance Committees for all their work organising it. The money raised will be divided equally between both church building funds.

Croagh Patrick to Ballinagh Climb & Cycle

A fund raising night in aid of St John’s Ward, Crumlin, will take place in the Tank on Sat. next 28th May. Please support the local lads taking part in the challenge.

Denn Gaelic Football Club

The Blotto Draw took place in the Den on Mon. 16th May.  The winning numbers were 3,11, 21 & 26.   There was no jackpot winner. The weekly winners were Barry Smith, Marian Connolly, Des McCann, Martin Donohoe & Kathleen Byrd. .The next draw will be on Mon. 23rd May in The Crosskeys Inn.

Eucharistic Congress Bell

The Eucharistic Congress bell which is travelling throughout Ireland will come to the parish of Denn on this Tue. 24th May. It will arrive from Ballyjamesduff to Crosskeys village at 11.50am and will be carried to Crosskeys church for a short liturgy at 12.noon.  We encourage anyone who can to attend this special event.  You may go directly to the church and wait for the bell to arrive or if you wish you may walk after the bell from the village to the church.  Volunteers for carrying the bell and others planning to walk behind it are asked to please be outside the football pitch at 11.45am.

Virginia Gospel Choir Concert

Will be held in St Joseph’s Hall, Ballyjamesduff on next Fri. 27th May at 8.30pm. Tickets, which cost €12 will be on sale in the Credit Union and Post Office.

Fund Raising for Zambia

Gary McCaul wishes to thank all who helped with and supported his recent fund raising events. A special thanks to the pupils and staff of Crosskeys NS for their donation of €400 raised in their Easter Egg raffle, and also to all who helped with and supported the recent Cake sale which raised €455. A sincere thanks to all for help and generosity.

Breifne Historical Journal

The 2011 Breifne journal which includes an article by Fr Liam on The Parish of Denn in the early 1800s  is available in the sacristies of each church.  It costs €25. If you wish to become a member and receive the journal each year please fill in one of the forms.

Unemployment Support Service

Starts on Thurs morning next 26th May at 11am in the Realtóg Centre, Kilnaleck. It will help with applying for a job, improving your C.V., interview skills etc. Ring 4336070

Denn GFC Fashion Show

Will take place in the Carraig Springs on Fri.27th May at 8.30pm.  Special guests include Cavan U-21 team members and a host of GAA & media personalities.  Tickets cost €10 and are now available from all club members.
